TOPIC: BUT THE SAINTS WILL POSSESS THE KINGDOM
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I request that you help me to encounter you as I meditate on your word.
SCRIPTURE: DANIEL 7:15-28

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
* Q8: Is there any other Biblical passage that can help me understand this passage better?

Scripture Union Daily Guide – 14 November 2024 Outline:

Daniel was troubled just as king Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 2:1 and sought to know the meaning of the vision. See vs,15,19,20. This dream corresponds in various aspects with Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Daniel’s dream reflects the heavenly perspective of those kingdoms for what they were – beasts; mutations of creatures created by God, while that of Nebuchadnezzar reflected the worldly perspective where he saw man’s creation as great and precious, beautiful, and marvellous.

We note that part of this prophecy is yet to be fulfilled. While some Bible scholars ascribe the reign of the four beasts to the Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Greek and Roman Empires, some others opine that this vision could refer to more recent kingdoms like the British empire, the dominance of USSR, etc. We leave the details for your study.

Our interest, however, is the final outcome of all this, that God is sovereign, and His people will receive the kingdom under His Son, Jesus Christ (v.18). Read 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 and I John 4:3 for other references. Their powers over the saints (vs.21&25) are temporary and the Ancient of Days will finally intervene (vs.22&27). God’s promise is not freedom from difficulty, which may last for a moment; it is assurance of victory. Read vs 26-28.
